Antalya İncil Kilisesi(Antalya Evangelical Church) "The BEGINNING"
Antalya Evangelical Church began as a home group 17 years ago and grew to~20 members. In 1999, Antalya Evangelical Church (AIK) began renting space in the St Paul Cultural Center. After establishing this fixed and known location, AIK grew to~150 members, and is now one of the ten largest Protestant congregations in Turkey's growing Christian community. |
AIK "The PRESENT"
AIK is the only Turkish Christian church in Antalya. Each week, a large group of Turkish believers and seekers attend Sunday morning worship. The church is open daily and serves as a venue for church meetings, counselin and other activities. Each week, 15 to 20 visitors come to the church to ask questions about the christian faith. AIK has a full-time pastor and two assistants, as well as an elder board.
AIK "The MINISTRIES"
AIK weekly hosts several congregational meetings for prayer and worship. There are additional weekly fellowship meetings for young adults and women. The church has an active children's ministry and an adult education/leadership development program. AIK promotes relational evangelism by it's members and hosts special outreach services, concerts and other activities. AIK's website is also an important means of informing both the church family and the community of the services available through the church. AIK is currently developing ways to reach out to two of its neighboring cities which both have a small Christian community. Outreach to Alanya and Isparta is still in infant stages, but the believers of AIK are excited to pursue opportunities to be a further light in these areas.
AIK "The FUTURE
AIK has outgrown its current location and is in need of a larger meeting room to facilitate its congregation. AIK's vision is to establish a church building/community center which would allow for even more physical growth and would provide believers a larger scope of outreach to the unbelievers of Antalya. AIK's current location is a "tourist-type district" which is almost devoid of average Turkish housing.
This new location is in a residential community of middle-class Turkish professionals. In a Muslim culture where a church building is always a source of suspicion and/or cultural "violation," this class of residents are more open-minded to the presence of a Christian church in their community which is also important for secutity issues. the property AIK desires to acquire is also adjacent to an area with good public transportation service.

AIK asa "COMMUNITY CENTER"
It is the desire of AIK to minister to the 'whole person'. This is especially important in Turkish society where there are few programs provided by either the government or the private sector to meet the practical needs of personal, marriage, family and societal problems and challenges. As a community center, AIK will continue to provide programs and services to assist both church members and "seekers" in personal development, marriage and family relationships, parenting skills and in homemaking and money management skills.
